On foot

The beaches of Jandía

A beach for every mood

From the Sotavento lagoon to the wild corners of the south: these are the beaches worth a stop.

Playa de Sotavento

A windsurf and kitesurf paradise, with a lagoon formed by a sandbar, perfect for beginners and experts alike.

Playa de La Pared

A hidden gem for surfers, with strong waves and a wild charm.

Playa de la Cebada

In the old town of Morro Jable, ideal for water sports and with plenty of bars and restaurants along the promenade.

Playa del Matorral

Four kilometres of golden sand, flanked by a lively avenue of shops and restaurants and by the protected Saladar de Jandía reserve.

Playa de Mal Nombre

A secluded natural paradise with sand dunes and black pebbles, just 15 minutes from Morro Jable.

Getting around

The Jandía promenade is easy to explore on foot or by bike, and also with Bird electric scooters. The apartment is easy to reach and there is free parking nearby.

From Morro Jable harbour, the Fred Olsen and Naviera Armas fast ferries reach Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in about 1 h 45 min: a whole island for a day trip.

Experiences not to miss

Whales and dolphins

The waters off Jandía are home to whales and dolphins all year round. Several boat trips depart from the area to spot them.

Turtle nursery

At the harbour, rescued turtles recover before being returned to the sea: a short visit, perfect for children.

Jandía lighthouse

The 60-metre lighthouse marks the southern tip of the island: one of the best spots to watch the sunset.

Thursday market

Every Thursday, on Avenida del Saladar (next to the Cosmo centre), a market with clothes, crafts, souvenirs and local flavours.

Practical tips

Car hire. The island is best enjoyed by car. A trusted local company: CICAR.

The road to Cofete. It's a dirt track not suitable for ordinary cars: a 4×4 jeep tour is better.

On the beach. Lifeguards all year, sun loungers and parasols for hire, and beach bars along the promenade.

Day 1 · Sea & town

Morning on Jandía beach, a stroll along the promenade and dinner at one of the town restaurants.

Day 2 · The wild south

Day trip to the Jandía lighthouse and Cofete beach: untouched nature and huge views. Bring water and comfy shoes.

Day 3 · Relax & ocean

Pool and terrace in the morning and, if you fancy it, a boat trip. End by watching the sunset over the Atlantic.
